Random thoughts & updates

Hello! It's been a while since I've posted. I've been busy with life, of course. You know- being a mom, working, getting ready for Christmas, etc. Somehow the life of a mom just gets busier.  But, I have to say, even when I feel like I have NO time to do anything by myself (shower, or shave, for example), I love my kids to death. They are worth every frustrating second.

Caleb, just like Kenzie, is ahead of the game on everything he should be doing by his age. He smiles like crazy, which I love. Sometimes he smiles so much that its hard to feed him. I've already gotten him to giggle once or twice. I look forward to when that is a more regular thing though. Caleb is barely 3 months old, and has already been rolling over. I'm not sure what the normal time period for this is, but I'm pretty sure 3 months is early for that. Caleb is finally starting to sleep better at night. He is not yet sleeping "through the night", but he only gets up about 2 times per night now. For a while it was almost every hour, that was rough. I'm glad he's out of that stage now! Caleb loves to stand. That boy would spent all day in the bouncer if we let him! When Tyler took Caleb in for his 2 month appointment, he was almost 26" long, and 13 pounds 10 ounces. This means he was off the charts for both height & weight. People that see him for the first time guess that he's about 6 months old.

I'm so excited for Caleb's first Christmas. I know he won't know anything about it, but I'm excited nonetheless. We bought him a few toys- a ball, and a twisty teether, and a cd player/radio that looks like a yellow VW bug. It's so cute, and I can't wait to put it in his room. We also got him a baby book. I need to fill it out with all of the things he's doing, but I haven't had a chance yet. For Kenzie, I had the idea to buy a bunch of cute little picture frames, and fill them with pictures of everyone she loves. These will be for her to put around her room, in the top of her closet, on her desk, etc. We also got her some little barbie dolls, a bathtime Dora, and a ball popper thing that she's played with (and been in a trance by) at her Uncle's house. We also got her a Mr. Potato head but I'm not sure if that will arrive before Christmas.

Kenzie is my adorably sweet, yet frustrating 2 and a half year old. That girl keeps me on my toes for sure. She has a lot of fun with her Grandmas during the day, but when she gets home to me, she's exhausted, and sometimes gets naughty. Most of the time she's just sweet though. She'll give me hugs and kisses. If she sees me before I go to work, she either tells me not o go, or that she wants to go with me. She says some of the funniest things to me. One day we were on our way home from my mom's house, and she saw the clouds moving in front of the moon. She said, "the moon is moving, huh mama?", I said, "A little bit, but you can see the clouds moving.", she replied with, "Silly mama, clouds don't move!". Oh, right...silly me. :)  Another time she rolled down the window in the back of the car, sniffed and said, "I hmell hmoke in the cowds!" ( I smell smoke in the clouds!) She was so amazed by it, but the way she said it made me laugh hysterically. For some reason her S's were replaced by H's. Another day, she told me, "You're strong, Mama! I'm strong too! See my muscles?", said with her arm up showing her tiny little muscles. She entertains me on a daily basis. I need to start writing down some of the other things she says, because I can never remember them otherwise.

This week has been sad though. On Monday, she woke up with some little, itchy spots on her belly and legs. As the day progressed it spread all over. We were concerned about it, so Tyler set up an appointment with the doctor. I got off work early and took her in. The doctor told me that she has Hives. Ewww, no fun. She seemed to be ok other than itching though, so we went to the store to pick up some Zyrtec which would help get rid of the itching. While we were at the store she decided she really didn't feel good. She threw up all over herself, the cart, the floor, etc. That poor girl was miserable. I got her all cleaned up, and took her home. Right when we walked in, she threw up again. After that, she was happy and seemed to feel better for a couple of hours. Right until bedtime, that is. She ended up throwing up her dinner right before bed. So sad. She had to go to bed on an empty stomach.  Luckily she hasn't thrown up since. Her hives got worse though. The spots got REALLY red. Tyler took her to the doctor again, but its the same thing still. It's still pretty bad. Her eyes are all puffy, and she has red splotches all over her face, etc. I hope it goes away soon, because it's so sad! She says she it doesn't bother her though. The medicine keeps the spots from itching. At this point, we think that our detergent is to blame for her hives. We will be testing this to be sure.

We're still working on potty training with Kenzie. She does pretty well, but still has accidents in her pull ups all the time. And, she still wakes up wet in the morning. Someday she will be fully potty trained, and I look forward to that day!

Anyway, I'm going to go for now, I'm watching Practical Magic. :) Sorry though, no pictures this time- I am posting from Tyler's laptop and all of my pictures are on my computer.

  2. Your kids sound adorable and I wish I had the chance to know them better (that whole busy mama thing, you know). It sounds like Kenzie has an allergy for sure, maybe to something she ate? That's pretty extreme!
