Kenzie is 1 year old! :)

Kenzie's birthday was last Sunday. She turned 1 year old! How crazy is that?! We've been having so much fun with her over the last year! I made a slideshow of some of my favorite pictures that have been taken in the first year of her life.

Kenzie went in for her 1 year appointment on Monday of last week. She had to get 5 shots- which was definitely unpleasant, but she only cried for a couple of minutes- and she was fine after that. Her new stats are:

31.25" tall (21" tall when she was born.)
21 pounds 2 ounces (6 pounds 9 ounces at birth)
46 cm Head Circumference

She is walking about 7-8 steps at a time now. She loves to dance and sing. She loves food! Loves clicking her tongue, giving rasbperries, biting (ouch!), saying "blelelelelele" (total jibberish of course.)

Her birthday party was a little over a week ago, and there were A LOT of people there. She had so much fun! She wasn't really sure what to do with the cake- so I shoved both of her hands into it. Even then- she wasn't sure. My mom put some of it in her mouth, and THEN she started to eat some of it.

How does time go so quickly?

I have been sitting here, reading my cousin Becky's blog, looking at all of the pictures of her adorable kids. And, as I was doing this, I found myself getting totally emotional. For a lot of different reasons.

1. Because I can see how great of a mom she is, and I want to strive to be that amazing for my daughter.

2. I see all of the amazing things that she & her husband do for and with their kids. I started to think about all of the amazing experiences that I am going to be able to have with Makenzie, and her future brothers/sisters.

3. I think back on the last year- since Kenzie joined us. It has been an adventure for sure, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I hope that someday, I will be able to stay home (at least part time) with my kids, and be more a part of their lives. I would give anything to be there every day for Kenzie. But, right now, I have to settle for mornings, nights & weekends.

4. I can not believe how quickly time has gone. We have gone through so many stages in just 12 short months. At first, Kenzie slept most of the day, didn't smile, or giggle, or talk, or even move really. Now, she is almost walking, talking as much jibberish as she can, laughing all the time, crawling, cuddling, etc. She makes my heart melt. Always.

Her birthday is in under 2 weeks, and I have been putting together a party for her. i want it to be perfect, but I also keep reminding myself that she is only 1 year old, and she won't remember it anyway. But, I will. So- I will do my best to make her party perfect. Even if it's just perfect for a 1 year old's standards.

I can not believe I am going to have a 1 year old on my hands. Seriously. If you have a baby/kid(s)- cherish every moment with them, they go by way too quickly!

Updates and pics.

I have been such a slacker on the updates...here goes nothing...

First, Kenzie is 11 months old today! :) She's getting so incredibly big, but more and more adorable every day. She says, "Ha!" for "Hi", "Da" for "Dog", "Dada" for almost everything else (including Mama.). She took her first steps on Friday night! She walked 2 steps to me from Tyler, then I aimed her back at Tyler and she got too excited and crawled to him. Then walked 2 steps back to me! I wish I had it on camera, but I was just glad that Tyler & I both got to witness her first steps! We are so excited for her first birthday party which is coming up next month.

Tyler started an internship 2 weeks ago with the State Legislation. He has been working hard for them! He seems to be enjoying it mostly though. Unfortunately, during his first week he got pretty sick and had to stay home for a few days, but he's mostly better now. Tyler is training for a marathon that he is signed up for. The marathon is in April and he is getting pretty nervous. I am so proud of him though! :) He's such an inspiration to me.

Kenzie got sick last week too- and is still working on getting over it. She was sick for about 8 days- then we took her to the doctor and he told us that she had a bronchial infection. He gave us some antibiotics for it, and that has seemed to help. He also told us to give her solid foods, but no bottle for a while because it would just make her worse. That was a glimpse into the near future. It hasn't been bad, just weird. We normally put her to bed using her formula, but the last few days we've been using apple juice, or water. It's so crazy to think that within 1 month- she won't be on formula anymore at all. And, I'm sure she'll be walking well. Wow. Where did the time go? I mean, wasn't I just in the hospital with her welcoming her to the world, and to my family? I look back at pictures and videos of her over the last 11 months and almost can't remember before she smiled, or giggled, or rolled over, or crawled, etc. She learns so fast. It amazes me. She knows that a Monkey says "Ooo ooo ooo" except she improvises the sound a little. Her's sounds more like "uh uh uh". She also uses that sound for dogs, and every other animal she sees. It's adorable. When I ask her what a baby says, she says "Dada". She makes my day! She's learned how to click with her mouth, how to do raspberries with her mouth, etc. She has also learned how to climb the stairs. She rolls over during every diaper change- which makes it now a 2 person job when she's on her changing table. She's rolled over during them for a while, but it used to be easier to get her to stay put (ie: give her a toy...) But not anymore. Oh, she also hugs her toys a lot. If you hand her a stuffed animal (her bear, or giraffe are her favorites), she'll squeeze it really close to her. She sleeps with the bear in her crib, and I quite frequently see her hugging it, or with her arm over it when I go to wake her up. This morning was funny- she was awake when I went in to get her- standing up in her crib like she often is. She heard the doorknob move, and yelled "HAAAAAA!" (meaning hi) at me the second she saw me. It was ADORABLE! Oh man, I love that baby.

And on to my sister's baby- Laurie/Mike had their baby on January 3rd. His name is Gabriel Michael Edsberg. He was 7 pounds 4 ounces, and 18 inches long (which we think was wrong because he measured 20.5" a couple of days later.). He is so stinkin' cute. Dark brown hair, blue eyes (for now- we'll see if they stay that way). He looks a lot like Mike, but still looks like Laurie too- a very cute mix. I haven't been able to see them much though. I saw Gabriel the day he was born, and then 2 weeks later. But, I haven't seen him since. :( It's hard to get over there, and since Kenzie's been sick- we haven't been able to have them over here as planned either. We DO NOT want to chance getting that cute boy sick. It is miserable! It's hard enough when their a little older, but 1 month is just way to young to be sick!! Laurie is the cutest little mommy! She loves Gabriel so much already! :) Love you sis! I look forward to getting to know my sweet new nephew more as he grows. Apparently- he has now started smiling. Yay! It just gets funner from here! :)

Oh, and Christmas...forgot to post about that too....wow. I missed a lot. Well, Christmas was great- mostly due to our wonderful families. We started out the morning at our house, opened all of our presents, and lots of clothes for Kenzie. Along with a fun play table that she loves! Then we went to my Mom's for breakfast, then opened presents. I got a cookbook- which has LOTS of recipes that sounds really good. And some money. Tyler got some money as well, and something else- but I can't remember what. Kenzie was sleeping there- so I had to open her presents for her. But she got lots of cute toys from Grandma! After that, it was off to my Dad & Pat's house. We did a light lunch, and saw lots of family there too. My Grandma, Aunt/Uncle & 2 cousins were there along with Mikey/Alanna & Laurie/Mike. We all exchanged gifts, and Kenzie got even more clothing, and lots of toys. (which we had to buy a toy box for afterwards. otherwise- our house would have looked like a toy tornado hit it!). Then it was off to Tyler's mom's house. We did dinner there, and exchanged gifts with Zach/Lindsey. Kenzie got some blocks from them- which she loves. Kenzie had opened her gifts from Grandma at our house that morning (a bunch of 18 month clothing because she was growing out of all of her 12 month clothes...yeah, she was only 9 months old...crazy tall child! Ha.). Overall, I think that Kenzie's first Chrismas was a success! I love that we took a bunch of pictures (check out my facebook- I don't feel like posting them all here.), and a long video on our camcorder. :)

Oh, and Tyler has taken a bunch of cute pictures of her since Christmas- I won't post all of them, but here are a few.

Christmas time!

This post is kinda all over the place- so bear with me! :)

My baby girl is 9 months old today. How did that happen?! Wasn't I just in the hospital having her last month? It is absolutely amazing how quickly time goes when you have a baby. But, even though I feel like Kenzie's only been a part of my life for such a short period of time- I can't imagine my life without her! She is the sweetest baby! She can crawl pretty good now. She has also started pulling herself up to standing using furniture. She won't nap easily now because if she's upset- she'll stand up and scream. It's sad.

On another note- Christmas is coming up! I'm so excited for Kenzie's first Christmas. We finished all of our shopping on Black Friday. We got some good deals and feel pretty good about most of the things we bought. The Saturday after Thanksgiving- Tyler, Alanna & I drove up to Park City and went shopping. We got a lot of clothing for a little bit of money. Tyler got about 4 new pairs of pants, and a few shirts, a scarf, etc. Much needed new wardrobe for a man who lost 65 pounds in under a year! :)

I have SO much to wrap, and I'm kind of excited to do it. I was looking forward to it yesterday. When I put Kenzie down for her nap I got everything ready to wrap, and then I realized I have no tape. Dang it. Present wrapping is going to have to wait until I have time to pick some up. I just really want to put the presents under the tree. Most years we don't have money to do much so there aren't any presents under the tree except maybe 1 or 2. This year we have a bunch so I REALLY want them under it to enjoy! I love giving. It's SO much better than receiving.

I had a realization last week- I'm going to have a new nephew in about a month! I'm so excited! Laurie is going to be such a good mom, and I'm excited for her to have all the fun experiences that I've already had with Kenzie.

On the last Friday of November, Janet (Tyler's mom) took us to "The Roof" restaurant downtown. It is located at the top of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. The food was really good, but the company was better. Tyler's Brother, Zach, and our sister-in-law, Lindsey and their adorable son, Britton, were there with us too. After dinner we went downstairs and took some pictures in front of the Christmas tree there. Some of them turned out but some didn't. Kids wouldn't sit still. You know how it is! Britton wanted to push Kenzie off the chair. Kenzie kept trying to pull his hair, or just wiggle off the chair herself. Oh what a night...
After that, we walked around Temple Square and looked at all of the Christmas lights that were put up that day. They were so pretty! Here are a couple of pictures from that night.

Last week my brother, Mikey, took some pictures of my little family. I haven't seen many of them yet- but I am looking forward to it! We're going to print a couple of pictures for my mom & grandma for Christmas. Tyler took a few pictures too- so I'll post what I have so far.

So much fun with our little one!

Kenzie is just over 7 months old now. She is getting so much more active! She tries really hard to crawl, but just ends up either doing what I call "the triangle" (standing on her head with her butt up in the air and her feet in tippy toe position), or moving herself backwards. She has recently learned how to say 1 syllable words, such as "da da", "ma ma", & "ba ba". It is so cute!

As of yesterday, we discovered that her bottom teeth are finally starting to come in. She has the bottom left front that will make it's appearance first, and it looks like the one next to it will be coming shortly after. I can't wait to get pictures when she actually has the teeth showing- I love those!! :)

Halloween is coming up soon, and we're trying to decide what to do with Kenzie. We have a kitty outfit for her, but I don't really like it. It doesn't fit her well, and it's really hard to get her in and out of. We also have a little tutu (see last post) and a black onesie that I could use. What should I do?

I'm so excited for Kenzie's first Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas! After Christmas, she will also have a new cousin! So, that's exiciting too! My other sister just had a baby a couple of weeks ago, so that's the first cousin on my side. Fun stuff!! Too bad I don't get to meet him for another couple of months at least. I have a feeling the rest of this year is going to go by way too quickly...I am looking forward to the rest of the fun times the rest of this year will hold though!

My little giant!

Tyler took some pictures for Kenzie's 6 month mark. I absolutely LOVE them! They are so adorable! especially like the first one! (The quality isn't great because I didn't have them at work so I stole them from my facebook page...)

So Kenzie had her 6 month appointment on Tuesday. She grew 3 inches in 2 months. Here are her stats now:

28.25" tall (25.25 at 4 months)
17 lbs. 12 oz (15 lbs 3.5 oz at 4 months)
43 cm Head Circumference (41 cm Head Circumference at 4 months)

All of this sounds about normal, right? Well...let's just say that she is in the 96% for her height, and 75% on weight. She is so tall that we have to get her a new carseat this month. The one she has only recommends children up to 29" use it. Her feet overflow over the bottom and her head almost hits the top. Such a cutie! But how crazy it is that she's so big! The downside to this is the fact that we now have to fork out another $50 to get the new car seat. Luckily- we can get one that will be rear facing for a while, then forward facing so we won't have to buy yet another new one so soon.

There are plenty more updates- but I'm at work, and being too lazy to add them.
